Music juggling and stuff
We have been getting together to read baroque chamber music at Mallies house about once a week for about 25 years. We play historical instruments. We do light research. We make an attempt at correct historical styles while remembering to keep the whole thing light . It’s great fun. These recordings were made a few years ago with Cathy Ameling playing recorder. I learned a lot about listening by playing with Cathy. Here is the current band line up.
Mallie Riecken - Harpsichord
Paul Ponto-viola da gamba(7 stringed bowed, fretted bass instrument)
Buddy Collier- recorder and viola da gamba
Brian Erle- traverso( historical flute ussually with one key, mine has two keys ‘cause it’s fancy)
I moved to ‘Vegas in 1991. I had gotten a job with my friend Chrissie Scoville working at Excalibur hotel doing juggling and storytelling. Excalibur liked to hire people from the Utah Shakespearean Festival.
I worked that job for 14 years. In 2005 Excalibur closed the Jesters Stage and I got a job teaching elementary music for Clark County School District I kept juggling but in 2011 I was in a motorcycle wreck that broke my left arm quite badly. I thought I might never juggle again but in 2014 a new surgery has me back up and throwing and grateful for it.
